Associate / Senior Associate - Agriculture & Estates
Location: Cardiff Sector: Agriculture & Rural Property Salary: Competitive + benefits + hybrid working PQE: 3-8+ years
A Top 60 UK law firm is seeking an experienced Associate or Senior Associate to join its leading Agriculture & Estates team, supporting the growth of its regional offering from the Cardiff office.
This role will play a key part in leading and developing the non-contentious, transactional rural property work locally, while being fully integrated into one of the largest and most recognised agricultural law teams in the country.
The firm advises some of the UK's most significant landowners, estates, and farming businesses, including multiple clients listed in the Top 50 UK landowners. The wider team includes four Fellows of the Agricultural Law Association and holds senior roles within key sector bodies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on and deliver transactional rural property matters including sales, purchases, mortgages and estate restructuring
- Advise on agricultural tenancies (AHA, FBT), estate management, and landowner-side issues
- Support clients with matters involving succession planning, tax-efficient structuring, and rural asset transfers
- Engage with natural capital initiatives, including conservation projects and biodiversity net gain agreements
- Work closely with colleagues across contentious and non-contentious teams nationally
- Support client development and contribute to ongoing business development strategy
Candidate Profile
- Qualified solicitor with 3-8+ years' PQE, ideally with experience in agricultural or rural property law
- Strong technical grounding in transactional land work
- Commercial awareness and ability to manage and develop trusted client relationships
- Desire to contribute to team growth and a strong regional presence, with support from a national platform
- Agricultural sector knowledge or experience working with rural clients is highly desirable
