THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a strategic, commercially minded Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to help drive its next phase of growth. The successful candidate will serve as a proactive business partner to the executive team, bringing deep expertise in fund operations, M&A, and portfolio oversight, and will play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy and governance across the organization.
This is a rare and confidential opportunity for an accomplished finance executive to join a high-performing executive team at a pivotal moment of growth and transformation. The incoming CFO will move beyond traditional stewardship to provide forward-thinking financial leadership, drive enterprise value, and support the organization’s continued expansion.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Strategic financial leadership and business partnership.
- Hands-on operational expertise in small-cap public company environments, with a proven ability to manage end-to-end finance operations, including financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls.
- Deep expertise in fund and investment company financial operations.
- Advanced knowledge of M&A execution, due diligence, and integration.
- Strong command of portfolio company oversight and fund-level structuring.
- Ability to contribute to the financial side of the sales process, including trade execution and compliance.
- Consultative approach, offering actionable insights to shape business decisions.
- High energy, agility, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial acumen and a track record of driving business growth.
EXPERIENCE
- Senior finance executive experience, ideally as CFO or in a senior finance leadership role within investment management, private equity, hedge funds, or small publicly traded companies
- Direct operational experience in small publicly traded companies, including responsibility for financial statement preparation, regulatory reporting, and day-to-day finance functions. Demonstrated ability to step into the role and immediately add value with minimal onboarding.
- Demonstrated success in M&A, portfolio oversight, and fund structuring
- Experience supporting entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and high-growth environments
- Proven ability to implement robust financial governance while enabling business agility
- Track record of contributing to business development and enterprise value creation
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
- CPA or CA designation is required
- Preference for candidates who began their careers in audit at a major accounting firm
- Additional relevant professional qualifications or advanced degrees are considered an asset
