Job Description:
LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a national law firm to hire a Docketing Director to oversee firmwide docketing operations and ensure all deadlines, procedures, and compliance requirements are met across business, litigation, and intellectual property matters. This role leads a large docketing team, manages systems and policies, and drives strategic initiatives to improve accuracy, efficiency, and risk mitigation. The Director also serves as the firm’s primary subject-matter expert on docketing rules, technology, and best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of 25+ docketing professionals, including staffing, performance management and budget oversight
- Evaluate and enhance docketing systems, workflows and procedures to maximize accuracy and operational efficiency
- Partner with technical teams to implement and maintain docketing technology solutions
- Maintain quality-control standards and ensure compliance with USPTO, state and federal court rules
- Develop and maintain firmwide docketing policies, service standards and training programs
- Serve as the primary resource for docketing questions, issue resolution and cross-functional support
- Collaborate with attorneys, practice groups and administrative leadership to align service delivery
- Provide docketing reports and analytics to firm and practice leadership
- Manage relationships with external vendors and identify opportunities for technical enhancement
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of management experience, including 3+ years in a senior leadership role
- 5+ years of legal docketing experience within a large law firm
- Advanced understanding of business, litigation, trademark and patent docketing processes
- Strong analytical, strategic, and operational decision-making skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to build strong cross-functional relationships
- Experience managing projects and vendor relationships
- Proficiency with docketing systems (CompuLaw, Pattsy Wave, FoundationIP preferred)
- Preferred: experience with data analytics, AI tools, advanced Excel, and data visualization platforms (Power BI, Denodo)
