Accounting Director – Non-Profit
Location: South Bay Area, CA (Fully Onsite)
Status: Temporary -to-Hire
Conversion Salary: Up to $185K annually
Temp-to-Hire Pay Range: Up to $73/hour
Overview:
We are partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization to identify a seasoned finance leader for a confidential opportunity. This role reports directly to the CEO and oversees a well-established accounting team. The organization is deeply committed to equity, collaboration, and community impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead all fiscal operations, including grants management, nonprofit accounting, and financial reporting.
Drive budgeting, forecasting, monthly reporting, cash flow analysis, and annual audit/990 preparation.
Collaborate with the controller to produce accurate monthly financials and grant reports.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and maintain strong internal controls.
Manage cash flow, month-end close, and financial document accuracy.
Cultivate relationships with funders, financial institutions, and key stakeholders.
Monitor grant revenue/expenditures and departmental budgets.
Present financials to the Board of Directors and serve as audit liaison.
Supervise and develop finance team members; support recruitment and retention.
Contribute to strategic planning and organizational committees.
Promote trauma-informed practices and cultural awareness.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
Minimum 2 years in a senior accounting role with nonprofit government grants experience.
Master’s degree preferred.
Skills & Tools:
Hands-on nonprofit and grants accounting expertise.
Strong budgeting and forecasting capabilities.
Proven team leadership and mentorship experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of government grant compliance.
