HR Generalist II – Payroll Specialist (Temp to Hire)

Location: Gainesville, TX (Fully Onsite)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Onsite
Type: Temp-to-Hire (Approximately 3 months with potential full-time conversion)
Pay Range: $30–$32 per hour (based on experience)


Position Overview

The HR Generalist II – Payroll Specialist will serve as the primary liaison between the onsite team and the centralized payroll function, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for a large hourly and salaried workforce. This role also supports HRIS activities, HR reporting, and a variety of HR generalist tasks. The ideal candidate excels in payroll accuracy, communication, and managing high-volume administrative responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities

Payroll Administration

  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for 1,000+ employees.

  • Review, audit, and analyze payroll for accuracy and compliance.

  • Provide payroll reports and support payroll-related compliance requirements.

  • Review, approve, or deny time-off requests per company policies or collective bargaining guidelines.

  • Resolve employee payroll questions and discrepancies promptly.

  • Partner effectively with payroll shared services teams.

  • Maintain payroll records per retention standards.

  • Stay current with payroll laws and regulatory updates.

  • Track and process deductions and garnishments.

  • Maintain payroll process documentation and work instructions.

  • Provide wage information for workers’ compensation and support auditor requests.

  • Identify opportunities for payroll process improvement.


HR Generalist Support

  • Support administration and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

  • Assist HR partners with documentation, employee records, and general HR tasks.

  • Build strong relationships with employees through routine floor interactions.

  • Identify and escalate employee relations issues when necessary.

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions, directing them to the appropriate HR resource.

  • Maintain accurate HRIS data and generate required HR reports.


Required Qualifications

Education

  • 6+ years equivalent experience
    OR

  • Associate degree plus 3+ years equivalent experience

Experience

  • HR experience with a strong ADP payroll focus.

  • Experience with HRIS management, HR reporting, and time/attendance systems.

  • Ability to run, interpret, and analyze HR-related data and reports.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access).

  • Strong math and analytical skills.



Pay Details: $30.00 to $32.00 per hour
