The payroll specialist is responsible for accurately processing and managing multiple weekly and bi?weekly payroll cycles for the organization. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining precise payroll records and delivering exceptional support to employees and internal teams. This position is Direct Hire and will pay between $55K and $70K annually.
Responsibilities
- Process multiple weekly and bi?weekly payroll cycles for exempt and non?exempt employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Review and verify timecards, timekeeping exceptions, and approved overtime before each payroll run
- Maintain employee payroll data, including new hires, terminations, rate changes, and deductions
- Reconcile payroll reports, resolve discrepancies, and make necessary adjustments in coordination with HR and Finance
- Calculate and enter voluntary and mandatory deductions such as benefits, garnishments, and tax withholdings
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management and department leads
- Assist employees with questions regarding pay, taxes, direct deposits, and payroll policies
- Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations, and company policies
- Maintain confidentiality of all payroll and employee information
- Partner with HR to ensure accurate onboarding, offboarding, and record updates related to payroll
- Support quarterly and year?end activities, including tax filings, W?2s, and audits
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency
Qualifications
- Experience processing payroll in a multi?cycle environment, including weekly and bi?weekly schedules
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax requirements, and wage and hour laws
- Proficiency with payroll systems and timekeeping software
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide clear guidance to employees
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
