LHH is seeking a Mechanical Solutions Engineer – Senior on behalf of a confidential defense contractor supporting Department of Defense programs at Naval Base Point Mugu near Camarillo, CA. This is a full-time, onsite opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer with expertise in digital engineering, mechanical design, and system integration. Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering capabilities to mechanical systems

  • Create mechanical designs and CAD models for payloads and assemblies

  • Perform thermal and structural FEA analysis using tools such as ANSYS or COMSOL

  • Select materials and design for environmental ruggedization

  • Support payload integration on platforms, including mounts and harness routing

  • Produce manufacturing documentation with GD&T and tolerances

  • Support vibration, thermal, and environmental testing

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer

  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical design and analysis experience

  • Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo)

  • Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS, COMSOL)

  • Strong knowledge of thermal analysis, environmental qualification, materials, GD&T, and manufacturing processes

  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across teams

Preferred Experience:

  • Reverse engineering and solutioning

  • Line Replacement Unit, Assembly, and system-level testing

  • System Safety Engineering

  • Participation in system-level engineering efforts, including requirements definition

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical discipline

  • MS preferred

  • Substitution: 6 years of relevant experience may replace a bachelor’s degree; 4 years with an associate degree

Additional Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship required

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

  • Must be able to work onsite and support secure laboratory access

Compensation: Annual salary range: $120,000 – $200,000, based on qualifications, experience, and location.
