LHH is seeking a Mechanical Solutions Engineer – Senior on behalf of a confidential defense contractor supporting Department of Defense programs at Naval Base Point Mugu near Camarillo, CA. This is a full-time, onsite opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer with expertise in digital engineering, mechanical design, and system integration. Key Responsibilities:
Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering capabilities to mechanical systems
Create mechanical designs and CAD models for payloads and assemblies
Perform thermal and structural FEA analysis using tools such as ANSYS or COMSOL
Select materials and design for environmental ruggedization
Support payload integration on platforms, including mounts and harness routing
Produce manufacturing documentation with GD&T and tolerances
Support vibration, thermal, and environmental testing
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer
Minimum 5 years of mechanical design and analysis experience
Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo)
Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS, COMSOL)
Strong knowledge of thermal analysis, environmental qualification, materials, GD&T, and manufacturing processes
Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across teams
Preferred Experience:
Reverse engineering and solutioning
Line Replacement Unit, Assembly, and system-level testing
System Safety Engineering
Participation in system-level engineering efforts, including requirements definition
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical discipline
MS preferred
Substitution: 6 years of relevant experience may replace a bachelor’s degree; 4 years with an associate degree
Additional Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship required
Active DoD Secret Clearance
Must be able to work onsite and support secure laboratory access
Compensation: Annual salary range: $120,000 – $200,000, based on qualifications, experience, and location.
