Senior Associate - Portfolio Management
Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow (Hybrid working)
The Scottish National Investment Bank is seeking a Senior Associate - Portfolio Management to play a key role in supporting the oversight and performance of the Bank's growing and diverse investment portfolio.
Reporting to the Investment Director - Investment Portfolio Management, this role sits at the core of the Bank's portfolio activity. You will support the ongoing management of investee relationships, lead elements of due diligence and financial analysis, and contribute high-quality insight and recommendations to senior stakeholders, Investment Committees and the Board.
This role is well suited to an experienced investment professional who enjoys combining analytical depth with relationship management and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
Portfolio & Relationship Management
- Act as a key point of contact for investee companies, supporting effective ongoing relationships.
- Ensure portfolio data is accurate, up to date and reflects performance against the Bank's original investment case.
- Support timely responses to investee requests, consents and portfolio-related queries.
- Maintain high-quality records across portfolio systems, including PortF.
Advanced Due Diligence & Investment Analysis
- Lead due diligence activity for follow-on investments, particularly complex or high-value transactions.
- Analyse financial statements, market data and performance metrics to assess risk, value and investment viability.
- Identify and articulate deviations from investment cases, escalating issues where appropriate.
Financial Modelling & Insight
- Develop, maintain and enhance sophisticated financial models for forecasting, valuation and scenario analysis.
- Provide insight on financial performance, risk exposure and potential returns across the portfolio.
Governance, Reporting & Recommendations
- Draft high-quality investment and portfolio papers for senior management, Investment Committees and the Board.
- Support recommendations on investment structures, terms and portfolio strategy aligned to the Bank's objectives.
- Work closely with Risk, Legal and Impact teams to ensure cohesive and robust investment oversight.
Collaboration & Development
- Provide guidance and informal mentoring to Investment Associates and junior colleagues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of portfolio management processes and ways of working.
- Maintain awareness of market developments and sector trends relevant to the Bank's investments, particularly within Scotland's financial ecosystem.
Key Skills and Experience
- Degree qualified; professional qualifications such as CFA are highly desirable.
- Proven experience in investment analysis, financial modelling and due diligence.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects or discrete components of complex transactions.
- Well-developed analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving capability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing senior-level papers.
- In-depth understanding of financial markets, particularly sustainable investment and ESG considerations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to ethical investment practices and collaborative team working.
