Senior Associate - New Business
Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow (Hybrid working)
The Scottish National Investment Bank is seeking a Senior Associate - New Business to play a pivotal role at the initial stage of the Bank's investment activity.
Reporting to the Executive Director - Sustainable Investment, this role is responsible for the initial assessment, coordination and progression of inward investment enquiries. You will ensure that potential opportunities are assessed efficiently, professionally and consistently against the Bank's missions and investment strategy, providing a high-quality experience for all.
This role is ideal for someone with a solid grounding in investment or banking who enjoys early-stage engagement, structured assessment and working across teams to progress high-potential opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
New Business Assessment & Coordination
- Act as the first point of contact for all new inward investment enquiries, ensuring timely, professional and helpful responses.
- Assess the strategic fit of enquiries against the Bank's missions and investment strategy.
- Proactively gather information from applicants to support robust early-stage assessment and decision-making.
Governance, Decision Support & Reporting
- Lead the preparation and presentation of papers for the Bank's New Business Forum, setting out risks, impact alignment and recommendations to approve or decline.
- Ensure all enquiries, communications and decisions are accurately recorded within the Bank's CRM system.
- Produce management information on enquiry volumes, trends and outcomes to support reporting to the CEO, Executive Team and Board.
Stakeholder & Market Engagement
- Work closely with senior originators and investment leadership to support pipeline coordination and prioritisation.
- Build and foster relationships with external market stakeholders, particularly Scotland's Enterprise Agencies.
- Represent the Bank at external events, sharing insight into the Bank's missions, impact objectives and investment approach.
- Collaborate with internal teams including Impact, Market Creation and Partnerships & Engagement to develop early insight into sectors, themes and market opportunities.
Leadership & Team Development
- Line manage New Business associate(s), providing coaching, support and on-the-job development.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of new business processes, systems and ways of working.
Key Skills and Experience
- Experience assessing and validating investment enquiries within a banking, investment or financial services environment would be beneficial.
- Sound understanding of debt and/or equity investments and investment decision-making processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage professionally with prospective clients, including delivering decline decisions sensitively.
- Highly organised, with demonstrable administrative skills and the ability to manage multiple enquiries in parallel.
- Experience using CRM systems; Salesforce experience is highly desirable.
- Proactive, hands-on and collaborative approach to work.
- Alignment with the Bank's missions and a desire to support Scotland's economic and environmental ambitions.
