Payroll Administrator



Location: Bromsgrove / Midlands
Job Type: Full Time


We're working with a well-established accountancy practice based in the Midlands, who are looking to add an experienced Payroll Administrator to their dedicated payroll team. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who enjoys working in a client-facing, fast-paced environment and wants long-term progression within a supportive firm.

The role


As Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible for processing multiple client payrolls accurately and on time, while acting as a key point of contact for payroll-related queries. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring compliance, supporting auto-enrolment, and delivering a high-quality payroll service.

Key responsibilities


  • Process payrolls for a varied portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines
  • Investigate and resolve payroll queries from clients, colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Carry out routine and complex payroll administration tasks
  • Set up new payrolls and onboard existing payrolls for new clients
  • Liaise with clients and internal teams regarding payroll requirements and changes
  • Set up pension schemes and submit pension schedules
  • Manage pension queries and liaise with relevant providers
  • Process auto-enrolment and re-declaration of pensions
  • Stay up to date with payroll legislation and regulatory changes
  • Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and GDPR requirements

About you


  • Minimum of 2 years' payroll experience
  • Experience using BrightPay payroll software (essential)
  • Payroll experience within a bureau or accountancy practice environment is desirable
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing deadlines
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to deliver work to a consistently high standard
  • Strong Excel skills
