Job Title: Professional Support Lawyer - Employment Law Location: Bristol or Bath (hybrid working available) Salary: £70,000-£80,000 per annum (all salary expectations are welcome) Firm: A Top 100 UK law firm with a national reach and strong regional presence
About the Firm
Join a dynamic and growing national law firm ranked among the UK's Top 100, renowned for its high-quality work, specialist teams, and collaborative culture. With offices across the South West, Thames Valley, and London, the firm combines strong local roots in Bristol and Bath with an ambitious national growth strategy in key practice areas - particularly employment law.
The employment & immigration team has a strong reputation for delivering pragmatic, commercial advice to clients across both public and private sectors. This is a rare opportunity to join at a strategic moment as the team continues to scale locally and nationally.
The Role
As the Professional Support Lawyer (PSL) for Employment Law, you'll play a pivotal role in driving the quality, consistency, and impact of the team's work - underpinning the firm's growth ambitions in this key practice area.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining high-quality precedents, toolkits, and know-how materials
- Monitoring and providing insight on legislative, regulatory, and case-law developments
- Translating legal updates into practical client communications, internal briefings, and training
- Collaborating with fee-earners, business development, and innovation teams
- Delivering internal training to ensure technical excellence and commercial alignment
- Supporting pitch, tender, and client-development activity
- Maintaining internal quality control and ensuring high standards of client service
What We're Looking For
- A technically strong employment lawyer (contentious and/or non-contentious) with 5+ years' PQE and/or significant PSL/knowledge management experience
- Exceptional drafting and communication skills
- Commercial awareness and ability to translate complex legal developments into practical tools
- Strong collaboration skills and confidence working across teams
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with enthusiasm for innovation
- Familiarity with national employment law trends and the South West market (especially Bristol and Bath)
Why This Role Matters
This is more than a traditional PSL position. The employment team is entering a new growth phase, with plans to expand its national profile. Your contribution will directly support that ambition - ensuring consistent excellence across client work, developing thought-leadership, and providing the internal tools and insights needed to sustain growth and innovation.
You'll play a central role in shaping how the employment practice operates, delivers value, and evolves within a top 100 UK law firm that prioritises quality, collaboration, and professional development.
What's on Offer
- Competitive salary of £70,000-£80,000, depending on experience (with all salary expectations considered)
- The chance to shape and grow a nationally recognised employment practice
- Access to high-quality work and collaboration with talented lawyers
- Hybrid working and modern offices in either Bristol or Bath
- Supportive, inclusive culture that values people, quality, and professional excellence
How to Apply
If you're a technically strong employment lawyer or experienced PSL looking to join a top 100 firm where quality of work, culture, and strategy truly matter, we'd love to hear from you.
